International Winter School:
Thermodynamics and Mathematical Analysis of Non-Newtonian Fluids
Korbielów 7.02.2009 - 13.02.2009
The school aims to provide a comprehensive series of
lectures focused on recent developments concerning the modeling and
analysis in the area of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and
thermodynamics. The participants should obtain:
- a detailed knowledge regarding recent general thermodynamic frameworks that have been successful in describing
the disparate response of continua that includes a wide range of viscoelastic materials.
- an overview of the large-data results concerning evolutionary flows of incompressible heat conducting fluids,
and a detailed description of specific methods incorporated in the analysis of initial-boundary-value problems.
- basic information about important topics concerning the dissipative response of fluids for further mathematical research.
We expect to have two main courses of lectures combined with presentations by the participants. There should be enough time
for detailed discussions, solution of exercises, skiing and walks.

Grzegorz SibaRegistration for the Winter School was closed on December 15, 2008, due to limited capacity of accommodation facilities.
The school is supported by the Visegrad Fund, project "Non-Newtonian Fluids", and is organized as an activity of the Jindrich Necas Center for Mathematical Modeling, financed by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic.
